Ringette Alberta is thrilled to welcome our new Executive Director, Kelly Sloan, to our team!

With Kelly’s extensive experience as CEO/Executive Director in the non-profit sector and her passion for promoting and developing initiatives, specifically with women and girls, we are confident that she will lead our organization to new heights.

As the governing body for ringette in Alberta, we are committed to providing our athletes, coaches, officials, and volunteers with the best possible support and resources. We feel that Kelly’s vast experience is the perfect fit for our organization, allowing us to continue our mission of growing the sport of ringette and fostering a strong and inclusive community.

Kelly brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our organization from her 30+ year career in the Non-profit sector for a variety of Edmonton organizations, including being part of the group of founders for three Edmonton non-profits. She is a proven leader who is dedicated to building relationships and creating opportunities for our sport in all areas.

Kelly Sloan has a Master’s Degree in Education and taught public school in addition to her impressive CEO/ED career. She has also sat on different non-profit boards (including her current role as Chair of the Finance and Risk committee for the Canadian Mountain Network – an organization that is braiding together Western academic research with Indigenous knowledge). Kelly has also acted as a consultant to government and non-profit organizations in areas such as risk assessment, financial and human resource management, and business case analysis.

A contributor to government and industry advocacy, Kelly has led or been part of developing local, national, and international initiatives in different service areas including social justice, housing, gender equality for women and girls, recognition of Indigenous-led research, integration support for newcomers to Canada, international development, health and mental health, caribou conservation, Rocky Mountain National Parks management, electoral reform and campaign training for women, respite and recreation services for persons with disabilities or chronic mental illness, outdoor education, and ending violence against women.

Ms. Sloan has been recognized for her contributions to community initiatives and advocacy for women through the Alberta Centennial Medal, Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal, National Advocacy Recognition Award for bringing together diverse groups, and Canadian delegate to the quadrennial YWCA World Council meeting.

Kelly grew up on the family farm in Southwest Saskatchewan where the prairie’s rural way of life, the sense of community, her parents’ example, and roots in the land shaped Kelly’s values of community involvement. In her spare time, Kelly is an avid cyclist and is also actively engaged in summer and winter mountain wilderness activities.

We are thrilled to have Kelly Sloan join our team and look forward to working together to achieve our goals and make a positive impact on the ringette community in Alberta. Please join us in welcoming her to Ringette Alberta!
