Tiering Committee
The Ringette Alberta Tiering Committee was established in 2022-2023 to improve competitive equity across the province in the U16 and U19 A/B/C divisions by making tiering decisions based on data. The previous tiering policy often overlooked player skill and team performance, leading to uneven competition across the province.
Committee Objectives:
- Provide data-driven recommendations on tiering for each Association in the U16/U19 divisions
- Support meaningful competition by analyzing returning player data and team performance
- Advise on advance/retreat guidelines using league game statistics from session 1 and session 2
- Evaluate the effectiveness of past tiering policies
- Recommend policy and process improvements to enhance competitive equity across the province
