Gym Ringette

Let's Play Gym Ringette!

What is Gym Ringette?

Gym Ringette is a dynamic and inclusive adaptation of traditional ringette, designed to be played indoors on a gym floor. It evolved from early floor sports like "floor hockey," which used broomsticks and a felt ring. Invented by Sam Jacks in 1963 as an ice sport for girls and women, ringette has been refined for gymnasiums, offering a fun, co-ed activity that emphasizes finesse and strategy. Players benefit from improved agility, speed, and endurance, developing core physical literacy skills such as strength, balance, flexibility, and coordination. Gym Ringette fosters teamwork, socialization, and healthy competition.
