TOP STORY: And the winner is…

Congratulations to the 2024 Ringette Alberta 50/50 winning family from St.Albert.

From the First Ringette Event to a $31,000 Prize!
This year’s 50/50 raffle winner is a family that’s new to ringette, and their story is nothing short of amazing. Their daughter attended her first "Come Try Ringette" event just last year, and since joining, the whole family has fallen in love with the game and the incredible sense of community it brings.

When we called the winner to share the news, we hilariously interrupted his workday, and he was so stunned he didn’t tell his family until moments before we arrived with the prize in hand! Winning over $31,000 felt too good to be true.

The family has decided to celebrate their winnings with a dream trip to Japan, and we couldn’t be more thrilled for them. We can’t wait to see their photos and share in their joy with our ringette community!

Devon Lowe: A Champion for Ringette On and Off the Ice

This year’s record-breaking 50/50 raffle wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible support of our sponsors, and we are especially proud to recognize Devon Lowe, our official 50/50 sponsor. Devon’s generosity went above and beyond, with her $1 donation for every ticket pack sold, contributing over $1,700 to Ringette Alberta.

But Devon’s impact goes far beyond her sponsorship. She is a pillar of the Alberta ringette community, with a lifelong dedication to the sport as an athlete, coach, and mentor. Her ringette journey began in 2002, and since then, her achievements have been nothing short of extraordinary. Thank you, Devon, for your incredible dedication to ringette and for stepping up as a sponsor to help make this year’s 50/50 raffle a success. Your support is a reminder of the amazing community that makes ringette in Alberta so special.

Devon has invited the entire ringette community to connect with her!

She will be hosting a webinar on Feb 20th- See more information here

Devon is also offering free 30-minute consultations for the ringette community! You can reach her: devon.lowe@igpwm.ca

Respect Our Officials: Be a Champion of Sportsmanship

Officials are a vital part of the game, ensuring fairness and safety. Like players, they are athletes who dedicate time and effort to the sport and they are still learning. It’s crucial to treat them with the same respect we show our teams.

Inappropriate behavior toward officials, such as yelling, insulting, or questioning calls aggressively, creates a toxic environment for spectators and players alike. Remember, officials often can’t hear comments from the stands—it only disrupts the atmosphere and sets a poor example.

We encourage teams, especially coaches, to lead by example and teach what respect for officials looks like. Cheer positively, support fair play, and model good sportsmanship to ensure a welcoming and enjoyable experience for everyone.

Together, we can keep ringette a positive and inspiring space for all!

Channel Unsportsmanlike Energy Into Better Game Play

Sometimes emotions run high during intense games, and that energy can lead to unsportsmanlike behavior. But what if we used that energy to fuel better performance instead?

Redirect frustration into focus. Use the moment to analyze your game—what’s working, what needs adjustment—and channel that energy into smarter plays, quicker reactions, and stronger teamwork.

Remember, staying composed under pressure shows true strength and leadership. A calm, focused mindset can shift momentum in your favor and inspire your teammates to rise to the challenge.

Sport is as much about mental resilience as it is about physical skill. Turn the heat of the moment into fuel for a better game, and you’ll come out stronger every time!
