Competition Development (COMP-DEV)

Competition Development (Comp Dev or CD) is for high-performance coaches. Canada Winter Games, National Teams. Ringette Canada is working towards having more of our AA and NRL coaches completing this training.

CD requires some multi-sport courses offered through Provincial Coaching Associations (you can check the NCCP Calendar by province, or on Alberta Sport’s calendar page), as well as sport-specific training put on by Ringette Canada and/or Provincial bodies. There are 8 multi-sport modules that need to be done, 5 of which must be complete BEFORE you can register for the sport-specific.

We encourage all AA and NRL coaches to attend the courses in their area, though any coach is welcome to sign up.

Starting in the fall of 2020, there is no longer an incentive for Ringette Alberta to host closed Comp Dev multi-sport modules, and in fact there is a risk if the course doesn’t fill. Please look at the Alberta Sport Calendar where you can register directly. Note that if there is more than one day/date listed, it means they are BOTH part of ONE COURSE. If you are interested in learning more about becoming Competition Development Trained or Certified, here is a link to the Comp Dev Pathway. Currently, it is only required for Canada Winter Games and National team coaches, but it is a future requirement for NRL coaches as well.

About once a year, or every 18 months, Ringette Canada will host a Competition Development Ringette training course. Interested coaches who have completed the 5 pre-requisite multi-sport modules should let Ringette Alberta know they are ready for that opportunity when it arises.
