Canada Winter Games Head Coach Announced

Ringette Alberta is pleased to announce that Heather Konkin (St Albert, AB), will be head coach of Team Alberta for the 2019 Canada Winter Games, February 15-March 3, 2019 in Red Deer, AB.
As a player, Konkin has experience competing at several Canadian Ringette Championships, the 2010 World Championships (Team USA) and the 2003 Canada Winter Games.  Additionally, Konkin brings a diverse coaching background to the staff, having experience at both the AA and NRL level.  Most notably, Konkin was an Assistant Coach for Team Alberta at the 2015 Canada Winter Games, and more recently, she served as the Head Coach on the all-female coaching staff for the Zone 5 2016 Alberta Winter Games team which won Gold in Medicine Hat with a 5-0-0 record.
“My experiences have allowed me to identify with the athletes, share my experiences (both technically and emotionally), and aid in their development as athletes and people”
When not coaching, Konkin is the co-owner of 5-Count Ringette Goalie Instruction School, serves on the Ringette Canada Board of Directors and is a player on the Open A Edmonton Relit team.
The remainder of the coaching staff will be announced shortly.

Draft policies: Sanctioning & Inclusion

The Ringette Alberta Board has prepared two draft policies and is requesting your feedback / input.

12.0 Event Sanctioning Policy (revisions)
The revised event sanctioning policy is intended to come into effect for any events scheduled after the conclusion of the 2018 Ringette Alberta Provincial Championships and thereafter.

The revisions are intended to add clarity to the policy, specifically around what is automatically sanctioned without application, and what requires application for sanctioning.  The revision also includes the basis for determining whether or not sanctioning is granted.

25.0 Inclusion Policy (new)
This policy is intended to be in effect immediately upon Board approval

Th purpose of this new policy is to ensure all participants have access to programming and facilities in which they feel comfortable and safe.  It is also to align Ringette Alberta policy with the Alberta Human Rights Act.

Additional guidelines for implementation will be made available to members when the final policy is released.

You should email your feedback to david@ringettealberta.com no later than 09:00, November 23, 2017.
