University Ringette defends National Championship Title in all Alberta final

The University Ringette Team successfully defended their 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 National Championship titles by winning the gold medal again at the 2014 Canadian University Challenge Cup, hosted by Nipissing University in North Bay Ontario.

The University Team achieved an impressive 5 wins and 1 loss record in the round robin portion of the University Challenge Cup and then claimed the gold medal after defeating the University of Calgary Dino’s 4 – 2 in the all Alberta finals. CWG Women In Training

The 2015 Canada Winter Games Team Alberta is now accepting applications for the Women In Training Apprenticeship Program. The apprentice coach will be a part of the Canada Games coaching staff, in addition to our Head and Assistant coaches. This young, female coach will be mentored by our senior coaching staff to develop her coaching skills and experience. Through the program, the Women in Training coach shall attend a series of Professional Development Seminars and gain valuable lessons and expertise, in hopes of becoming a senior coach down the road. Read More

Canada Winter Games Coaching Staff Announced

Ringette Alberta is pleased to announce the coaching staff that will be leading our 2015 Team Alberta to the Canada Winter Games in Prince George, BC, February 13 – March 1, 2015. Accompanying our head coach, Kevin Harrison, will be our two assistant coaches, Heather Konkin and Christopher Kelly.

Heather Konkin is an experienced coach, starting her coaching career in 2005 with U12 AA, she has developed and most recently, was an assistant coach for the NRL team; Edmonton WAM! In 2011, Heather and Keely Brown founded the largest Ringette Goalie School in Canada, 5-Count Ringette Goalie Instruction, which trains goalies of all ages across the country, this is sure to be an asset for Team Alberta’s net minders. On top of coaching, Heather is also a talented player and will use her past successes at numerous Canadian Ringette Championships, 2010 World Championships and 2003 Canada Winter Games, to guide and mentor the young athletes. Read More
