Pre-course Assignment

Instructions

Welcome to the Community Sport Initiation (CSI) course for Ringette.

There are 3 components to become trained as a CSI Ringette coach.

1.  Complete the pre-course assignment.

A)   Read the Introduction
B)  Complete the written activities on the following topics:

  1. Child-centred coaching (~ 30 min)
  2. Long Term Athlete Development (~50 min)
  3. Safety (~ 40 min)

These are multi sport topics applying to coaching all sports.

Only ONE version of the Pre-Course Workbook needs to be completed, you can choose the Word document file OR the PDF file, you do not need to complete both, as they are the same workbook.

CSI PRE-COURSE REFERENCE MATERIAL

​ Please take the time to complete the pre-course assignment above before you attend the course.  The assignment is designed to prepare you for the discussions in the course and should take approximately 2 – 2 1/2 hours.

Once you have completed the pre course assignment, please submit your completed workbook to Caleigh Shaw at caleigh@ringettealberta.com at least 3 days prior to the beginning of your course. Your Learning Facilitator for the course will then be notified and will check to see that it is completed.  The pre-course assignment material will be reviewed in the course, so please bring your completed assignment to the course – either hard copy or electronic copy if you are using your computer for the course.

 

 2. Complete the CSI level course for ringette.

*There will be an on ice session.

 3. Complete the online Making Ethical Decisions (MED) evaluation for Community Sport 

Once you complete the in-class portion of the assignment, you will be able to access Making Ethical Decisions online.
